We resume our article on the essential details of black jack. In Part 1 we reviewed the approach of the game, taking another card, standing and how to double down. In part 2 we'll talk about splitting, surrendering and insurance.

Split: if a player is assigned two cards of the same amount (two 8's for instance) the gambler may separate them to generate 2 different hands. If you choose to split your hand you will need to make a new bet equivalent to the original bet.

Surrender: A few betting houses will let gamblers to surrender the hand they have been assigned along with fifty percent of the initial bet they placed before the dealer looking at his hand. Keep in mind it's important to inquire with the croupier for clarification on the chemin de fer table game rules or check out the game rules section on the online casino you are betting on.

Insurance: When the croupiers exposed card is an Ace players have the option to take out insurance. You will lay half of the initial bet prior to the dealer looking at his cards; if the dealer has chemin de fer you'll win the insurance bet but still lose the initial amount. Sadly if the croupier does not have twenty-one the gambler loses the insurance. It's a risk but one that is absolutely worth it, if used as part of a clever tactic.

As soon as a gambler has stayed or busted by exceeding twenty one the croupier will reveal their hand and will continue to deal himself cards until 1 of the following things has happened: if they have reached seventeen, a croupier will not normally draw another card due to the likelihood of busting, if they have drawn twenty-one or if he has gone bust.
